Lee Chong Wei wins the Malaysian Open Super Series

Owh, forgive my title..

We are suppose to refer to him as 'DATUK' Lee Chong Wei.

Well, Datuk Lee has clinched his 5th Malaysian Open Title with a win over Koreans Park Sung Hwan. Chong Wei, the world number one, only needed 39 minutes to win 21-14, 21-13, thus clinching his fifth title after winning them in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008.

Ok la, I didn't really watch the game, but i was lucky enough to catch the immediate replay. :p

(Park Jung Hwan)
.
Given the nickname "Kampung Boy" because of his amazing record of protecting the Malaysian title from other shuttlers, (Only Peter Gade got the Malaysian Title in 2007) Chong Wei had the crowds support from the start till the very end of the tournament and non of it compared to the final game against Park Sung Hwan. Shouting like no tomorrow! hahaha.. Damn nice.

On his different style of celebrating his win by kissing the floor, Chong Wei said "there was a belief among players that lady luck would not shine on any Malaysian shuttler competing at Putra Stadium".

“But today, I do not believe in that anymore. I have proved that I can win a title here,” said the 25-year-old Penangite, adding that his main target now was to win the All-England and World Championship titles this year.

In the quarter-final and semi-final matches, Chong Wei had to endure three-set matches before winning against Simon Santoso of Indonesia, and 2007 champion Danish Peter Gade Christensen, respectively.

Coach Misbun Sidek defied the doctor's order to rest at home to be at the side of his student Lee Chong Wei during the finals of the Malaysian Open badminton championships at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

okok, if you all were good readers you will realise that i took this part from The Star newspaper.. hahhaha.. But eh, I wanted to stress out about how a student, would feel appreciate about the presence of a coach who keeps on driving his student despite being ill. Now thats what i call an example.

Well, Good job Chong Wei!

You made us Malaysians proud to call you our Golden Boy.

Congratz on winning your Malaysian Open Super Series title.
